Harley Photographs Featured in MCN on on the RSD Blog

Here at Art Visage, we have been privileged to be the official photographers for Shaw Harley-Davidson's new Shaw Speed Shop project.

Last week at the Alexandra Palace Custom Bike Show in London, Shaw's hard work and skill was rewarded with 1st, 2nd and 4th places in the Modified Harley-Davidson custom build competition.

To celebrate this amazing achievement we were called in to photograph 4 of their stunning machines. Phil and i had a great day at the dealership and produced some fabulous images.

World famous publication, Motorcycle News then visited Shaw's and ran a 2 page feature about the Speed Shop and featured some of our images. It was a funny feeling seeing our work published in such an esteemed paper.

Then Steve called to tip me off that two of our images had been featured on world renowned custom bike guru Roland Sands' blog in the States

Here a few of the latest bike shots.

This won the show.

Kahlil Ashanti

Its that mad time of year. Christmas is closing in, December is a crazy month for weddings and it seems that everybody is ordering last minute reprints for presents.

However, i managed to find a window to photograph the amazingly talented Kahlil Ashanti, an American actor with a fast growing reputation. Best known for his performance in the one man show "Basic Training", i had the privilege of being the photographer at Kahlil's wedding to Lydia a couple of years ago. They are are currently back in the UK for Christmas and it was a great time for us to get together to produce some fresh images for Kahlil.

I shot by available light only on fast lenses. Then we finished the shoot at the Sovereign Harbour in the rain.

Here are a few favourites of mine.

The Wedding Workshop

I am very pleased that Peter Prior Photography has been invited to re-join the Wedding Workshop.

The Wedding Workshop is a group of selective Sussex based businesses, specialising in providing top quality wedding services. Established since 1992, each wedding related business supports the others with the aim to ensure you receive only the very best personal attention before, during and following your wedding day.

As part of our current marketing plan this tie-up makes a lot of sense for us and the other members of the group. Word of mouth recommendation and collective marketing is a very powerful tool in these trying times and Karen and i are looking forward to being contributing members.

Gilbert Comes to Visit

Monday saw a surprise visitor to the Prior residence.

Kay, Baggins' groomer already has 3 Miniature Schnauzers and has added a new puppy to her "family".

She kindly dropped in to introduce Gilbert, a real cutie. He is only 11 weeks old and was absolutely gorgeous!

It was about 6pm and as he sat on his mum's lap i captured a couple of images all shot at 1600iso on my D300 using my Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens at f1.4.Shutter speeds were loooooowwwwwww but Gilbert kept still enough for these offerings.

Second RSD Harley-Davidson Shoot

After a lot of interest i thought i would share a few images from the second commissioned shoot for Shaw Harley-Davidson in Sussex.

Shaw H-D are known for their amazing work using stunning custom parts and accessories from Roland Sands Design in the States and on our second shoot Phil and i were asked to photograph the 5 bikes that had appeared at the recent Top Gear Show in London.

As i write this we are almost finished with the editing and artworking and have since shot a further 4 of these beautiful machines.

Weddings are still very much my first love and the major part of my business, but increasingly, along with my portraits, the diversity of shooting other commissions is making for a lot of fun and helps to keep my work fresh.

OK, here a couple of tasters from shoot 2.

Personal Work Backlog

As ever, being a professional wedding and portrait photographer, means having a very busy schedule. This is especially true in mid to late summer.

When i do get a moment i still love to follow my passion of photography, which was originally born out of my love for motor racing back in my early teens. I grew up at Brands Hatch and when i raised enough funds from my first proper job, i used to shoot racing on a trusty manual focus Nikon 35mm film camera and long zoom lens.

I was fortunate enough to travel to a few UK circuits as well as the first two motorcycle Grand Prix at the then "new" Nurburgring and also the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Back then i was huge Barry Sheen fan and was privileged to see his last ever German GP ride as well as his last British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

After a few years break due to work and family commitments i have tried to attend the British Superbikes at Brands Hatch whenever weddings allow. This year i made it to both meetings and on each occasion it was well worth the trip.

I know the meeting was back in August but due to my workload, i have only just got around to work on my images. On the day i had Jacob and Ruby in tow. We had a great time, but obviously my photography had to take a back seat as i enjoyed a family day out.

Here Ruby on the stunning BMW K1300R.

I also managed to grab a few shots on the exit of Druids Bend. All were shot on my D300 and Nikon 18-200 VR lens.

Late in August, Eastbourne is host to Airbourne, a 4 day airshow with many fly pasts out over the sea. The town comes to a total halt and on Sunday night, a huge firework display takes place off of the end of the pier.

We took the kids to see the fun and i had my trusty Canon G10 in my pocket. Here are a couple of my shots, captured hand held and with me holding my breath whilst bracing myself against a wall.

James and Laura's Wedding at Newick Park

Just finished designing the album of Laura and James' wedding that took place on 17th October at the beautiful Newick Park Hotel in East Sussex.

They wanted a relaxed coverage to the day with the majority of the photography being my signature "documentary" approach, which enables Laura and James to focus on enjoying the company of their guests and family without having to worry about excessive posing and hassle.

For the second week running we were blessed with amazing autumn weather and a stunning sunset and i thought i would share a few favourites here.

The whole wedding can be viewed on my website .
