Barcelona Wedding Photographer Stephanie and Julian’s Welcome Party

Just 36 hours after flying home form Aberdeen, i was back at Gatwick Airport to fly to the beautiful city of Barcelona to cover the wedding weekend of Stephanie and Julian.

Stephanie and Julian were legally married the previous weekend in Eastbourne: you can see the images here. However this was the big one for the couple!

I jumped into a taxi for the drive up into the hills, overlooking Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea beyond. It was great to savour some real summer weather after so many grey and damp days in the UK of late.

Just a few hours after arriving at the lovely Gran Hotel la Florida, i was down to work, covering the welcome party. Guests had flown in from all around the world to celebrate their marriage and the party was a great way for everyone to unwind, relax and have a great time before the big day that on Sunday. The cosmopolitan mix of people made for a fantastic atmosphere throughout.

As usual, my approach was very low key. I hunted down moments that combined to tell the story of the evening.

Apart form a relaxed welcome speech by Julian’s godfather, the rest of the evening was bereft of formality. The early part of the evening took place at sunset as guitars played in the background. Then as darkness fell the music became more upbeat. The dancing high above the city made for a dramatic image or two.

I left the celebrations around 1am to ensure i was rested and fresh for the big day ahead.
