Newborn Photographer Sussex Freya
My love for Fine Art Black and White Portrait Photography opens up so many possibilities and gives me so many opportunities to photograph the important moments in a family’s lives.
Little Freya was just 7 days old when i visited her family home to create some never to be repeated pictures of her at such a young age. The real magic of the art of newborn photography is to create images in the first couple of weeks of a little baby’s life as they change so quickly. Their tiny size is easily forgotten and for me, its a wonderful time to photograph them.
I had photographed Vicki (Mum’s) maternity portraits a couple of months before and i was so excited to be asked to be Freya’s first official photographer. The session had been penciled in before Vicki’s due date, so that we knew i would have a space in my diary as i get very busy. It was important to photograph Freya before she changed too much.
Using only natural window light in my signature style i worked quietly and gently, ensuring baby Freya was kept chilled at all times. She really was the perfect model,with no crying at all; just sleeping peacefully in what was a very tranquil home. It was lovely to meet her besotted Dad, Jason too.
The session took about 2 hours to complete, but i never rush as the essence is to keep the family at ease and, of course the newborn is happy, well fed and resting.
All of the images in this slideshow were taken on my Nikon D3s and 24-70 2.8 lens with no additional lighting.
