Baby Photographer Sussex: Cordelia’s Baptism in Eastbourne, East Sussex

As a baby photographer Sussex, I love to be asked to document the important stages of their lives.

On Sunday, I had the honour of photographing the Baptism of my niece, Cordelia Therese at the stunning church, Our Lady of Ransom in the centre of Eastbourne. This was the second Catholic Baptism that I had been privileged to photograph in the past few weeks, and both sets of parents had been wedding clients of mine. Maybe this is going to be a new direction for me! I love catching up with past (or current as I prefer to refer to them) clients and seeing their families, as they grow, is always a pleasure.

I had photographed, my brother Derek’s wedding to Paula last year, at the same church in town. Its stunning inside and blessed with low but just enough light to shoot without causing any distractions, perfect for my style. I always prefer to use fast lenses and work with available  light when ever possible. When used carefully this really adds to the atmosphere of the occasion and this shows in the quality of the images produced.

This little lady is just ten weeks old and she has really grown since her first ever photo shoot in March, when she was just ten days old. You can see her Newborn shoot here.

It was a very intimate service and the priest was very accommodating, allowing me to discreetly capture the important moments as well as some groups shots of the family and god parents at the end of the proceedings. Following the church, everyone retired to Cordelia’s parent’s house in Eastbourne for a quiet celebration.

Here is my favourite shot of the day. I love the naturally joyous expressions of Cordelia’s parents as well as the light on her face and the dripping water as she is baptised.
