Amberley Castle Wedding Photographer
Documentary Wedding Photography Amberley Castle in Sussex
Amberley Castle is a magical venue to hold a wedding. Set in the beautiful West Sussex countryside close to the historic town of Arundel it is an amazing place to photograph a wedding.
As had become the norm this year, we were greeted by a very wet day. Its always a shame for the couple, especially when they have decided to marry in such a picturesque place as Amberley Castle. However as ever i had a plan of action for all eventualities and did my best to ensure my coverage was as relaxed and informal at Joanna and Richard wanted.
The castle is set in beautiful grounds and makes the perfect backdrop to wedding photos but apart from a brief 10 minute window we had to be content with staying inside for the drinks and family shots.
My brief was to keep everything as painless as possible and i did my level best to document the day without intruding too much. It a great way to work and i had a great time. Shooting by environmental light, i managed to really capture the essence and atmosphere of Amberley Castle. Its full of character and has a grand but cosy feel inside.
Working alone i was able to blend right into the background using my Nikon D3s, which is the perfect camera for working in such challenging conditions.
I have always loved the restaurant at Amberley Castle, where the wedding breakfast took place and slipped away during the drinks reception, to ensure i created some images of this stunning room. Laid up as a single long table, it made for a dramatic and intimate setting for the meal.
Below are a few of my favourite moments from what was a short coverage by my standards. I love the shot of Joanna’s two lovely daughters as they were posed by a guest. I love to observe and capture these fleeting pictures as they are completely unaware of what i am up to as i press the shutter.
