Grand Hotel Wedding Photographer
Grand Hotel Wedding Photographer Katerina and Paul
I love photographing weddings at the magnificent Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex. The Grand Hotel is a real gem and the highest rated five star coastal hotel in Britain. Not only is the building stunning, but it looks out across the English Channel and together with its welcoming staff, the Grand Hotel, makes the perfect wedding venue.
Katerina and Paul had met a number of years before and once they had seen the Grand Hotel, according to Kat, there was no other venue for them. Better still, they wanted a Greek Orthodox wedding and Eastbourne has the lovely St Panteleimon and St Theodore Church in the town centre. I hadn’t photographed a wedding at this little church for about 8 years so was really keen to do so again as the interior is fabulous and the ceremony itself fascinating and full of photographic opportunities.
Immediately after speaking to Katerina and Paul about their special day at the Grand Hotel, i knew i wanted to be their photographer. We gelled from the outset and this was backed up when they booked me be their pre wedding photographer. The shoot took place on an August evening around Eastbourne’s historic pier and you can see the images here.
On arriving at the Grand Hotel, i was asked to create some portraits of Katerina using the stunning architecture of the venue before she set off to be married.
The ceremony was terrific. Kat arrived with her father who handed her to Paul outside the church doors. After being greeted by the priest they were led into the church with the congregation following them down the aisle to their seats. The Greek Orthodox ceremony is full of symbolism and took well over an hour. I love orthodox weddings and the throwing of the rice as the couple are led around the alter is always a highlight!
On our way back to the Grand Hotel, we stopped off by the Wish Tower for a couple of photographs of Katerina and Paul with their wedding car by the sea. They then went off for a drive over the South Downs before returning to join the party at the Grand Hotel.
Family photographs took place on the putting lawn before the wedding breakfast was served in the majestic Compton Room.
After the formalities of the speeches i suggested we created a few images of Paul and Kat inside the Grand Hotel before the first dance.
What a wonderful day and a terrific couple who i can’t wan’t to see very soon!
