Beach Photography Sussex
I love creating family portraits. Living as i do close to Eastbourne i have so many terrific options. The beach is one of the those and always offers great possibilities for relaxed, natural and fun portrait sessions. Kids love the beach and so do the parents!
I photographed the wedding of Jane and John back in 2004 and remember having a great day creating the images for their very special wedding album. Therefore i was very excited to be meeting their young family.
We met just before low tide early on Bank Holiday Monday at one of my favourite locations, before the holiday crowds arrived in their droves.
The idea was to produce fun and informal family shots, especially of the children. It was a lovely morning and together with the setting it was lovely to be working hard to capture the images that Jane and John will enjoy for many years to come. We all went for a walk down to the beach and then with minimal direction from me it was down to the serious job in hand. i say “serious” but in fact it was undertaken in my usual low key and relaxed manner. This approach really allows everybody to relax and be themselves. Creating this environment, enables my images ot look the way they do; natural and timeless.
The images in the slideshow were all shot on my trusty Nikon D3s with my 180 f2.8 and 24-70 2.8 lenses. I generally shoot wide open which together with my lighting techniques allow the images to be almost three dimensional. I always prefer monochromic images for my portraits, but of course, i also produced some colour shots too to add variety for the family.
