New Place Wedding Claire and Stanley

I love working on a strong personal recommendation. Stanley called me on recommendation of a lovely couple, who were married at the Salomons Centre near Tunbridge Wells in the summer of 2012. I was booked with just 3 weeks to go before the wedding!

Of course, its a completely different kettle of fish photographing a wedding in January, especially when the ceremony isn’t until 3.30pm! I love the challenge of shooting winter weddings and in low light and such weddings are certainly not suitable for the inexperienced!

I drove to Hampshire and arrived at the lovely New Place with no dramas and took a look round to check out the best options for photography. Claire had requested a number of group shots and i knew that this would have be inside as the light would have gone after the wedding ceremony.

After a coffee, it was time to get to work. I photographed the last part of Claire and the bridesmaids getting ready as well as the groom and best man before waiting for the ceremony to commence. The late afternoon saw lovely sunshine so the ceremony room itself relatively bright to work in. Next there was a drinks reception which i covered before taking Claire and Stanley outside for a few informal images as the sun set. This also offered a brief but stunning sunset.

Then it is was back inside for the group shots. These was done quickly, using my Lastolite reflector as a soft box into which i bounced the flash for soft and balanced lighting.

Stanley and Claire has decided to hold the speeches prior to their wedding breakfast, so i was asked to cover them as well. Then i slipped away to drive home to Sussex, leaving the guests the enjoy the meal.
