Bannatyne’s Hotel is the perfect venue for a wedding. Its blend of the contemporary with classic country house feel, combined with beautiful grounds and great staff, make it a firm favourite of mine.

I decided to hold my recent wedding photography training day at Bannatyne’s Spa, Hastings because it offered every option to me as i taught ten photographers some of the skills that i have developed and that have served me in good stead throughout my career.

The day was sunny and bright and after a morning of “class room” work and following a lovely lunch, it was time to demonstrate some of the techniques for real. Our great models, Chloe and Louis played the part of a bride and groom for me.

I created images, and explained as i went along, allowing the delegates plenty of opportunity to then use the skills i had given them to take their own pictures. Due to the time of year, of course, it soon got a tad cool so we went inside the hotel where i demonstrated low light images and again allowed the delegates to try out their new learned skills.

The delegates were a great bunch and a real mix of absolute beginners to seasoned wedding professionals. They all got along well and the inevitable banter made for a great atmosphere throughout the day.

I would like to thank Jamieson Berriman, the General Manager, Monica and their team for making us so welcome and for ensuring the day ran smoothly for all.

Here are a handful of images taken on the day, all using available light of course.
