East Sussex Wedding Photographer
East Sussex Wedding Photographer Peter Prior ABIPP MCrGWP shares another of his favourite wedding images in his Behind the Lens series. This photograph was taken at the lovely Blackstock Barn, Hellingly just north of Eastbourne.
This Blackstock Barn wedding was in September and the couple had a beautiful early autumn day. As is often the case, I hadn’t met them prior to their big day, so it was all about using my experience to connect with them on the hoof. As i had shot at the venue beforehand, including shooting the owner’s sons’s wedding a few years back, I had quite a few ideas and plans in mind for the day.
The coverage was a mix of natural documentary and relaxed traditional styles. A few family groups and some bride and groom portraits were requested and I’m always happiest blending the styles to really offer a complete set of pictures for the album.
As the sun set, we popped out to the patio behind the barn where I was able to create a few dramatic and romantic images and this was probably my favourite of the bunch. I love the way the rays of the setting sun draw the viewer’s eye to the couple and the warmth of the image. There is also just enough light in the bride’s face and the angle of the light gives a near 3D feel to the photograph. The war sunlight carries on to lift the veil!
