Devon Wedding Photographer
Newton Abbot Wedding Photographer Peter Prior, is based in the stunning village of Kingskerswell in South Devon and is available to cover Portraits and Weddings in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, the South West of England, East Sussex and UK wide.
This is a blog to share some images from Chloe and Andy’s beautiful wedding at Stanhill Court Hotel. Now I hadn’t shot at Stanhill Court before, so I ensured that I went there a couple of hours before photography was due to start.
I always prefer to to do this on the day of the wedding, as it enables me to see a venue how it will be on a set time of year. I check out locations, lighting and direction of light and try to meet the wedding coordinator to check timings etc. This avoids any panic, nasty surprises etc once battle commences! Most websites, only show a small amount of what’s on offer to the experienced eye.
An added plus was that the greeting from the team was lovely, and it was a huge pleasure to work alongside them throughout.
Once I had checked out Stanhill Court, I ventured into Reigate to find the church. The ceremony was being held at Reigate Methodists Church in the high street, so parking was courtesy of Morrisons just behind!
I arrived at Chloe’s family home just before ten and was welcomed in to the chaos that is always at the bridal preps! This is always a great way to break the ice and get some story telling images of the pre wedding excitement.
A short drive back to the church followed where I documented the guys, the ceremony and took the group shots. Such a great location with steps down from the front door making an ideal location for the “formals”.
Back at Stanhill Court, I documented the drinks reception, which included Cocktail making and garden games to add to the fun before taking Chloe and Andy off for some relaxed, bride and groom shots around the grounds.
After the wedding breakfast and speeches, I then created some low light shots inside and after the first dance, slipped away following a couple of romantic shots at sunset.
It had been a very long but fabulous day. I left Devon at 4am and walked back through the front door at 11.15pm after a 440 mile round trip! But it was worth it.
I have to say, that I really loved working at Stanhill Court Hotel. It has everything! Fabulous grounds surround the main hotel building. There is the amphitheatre, which I understand holds outdoors ceremonies in there hidden garden. this is where the shots of Chloe and Andy sitting on the steps, were taken. At the back of the hotel there is the wonderful Orangery for the wedding breakfast and the sun is in the perfect place for sunset photographs too! Its magical!
Being a Newton Abbott Wedding Photographer, based in beautiful South Devon, it means that I will still be shooting a decent percentage of my weddings “on the road”. This is just as I did when we lived in East Sussex. To be honest, I do love the challenge of travelling and shooting at venues new to me as it keeps my work fresh. Keeping things fresh is very important to me and my photography and in turn this gives my clients even more value.
Such a great couple, lovely family and a superb wedding venue to boot! This combination always make my job a massive pleasure to do.
