Devon Wedding Photographer, Peter Prior was so pleased to be asked to photograph the wedding of Amy and Lauren at the beautiful Shilstone House in Devon.
Set in rolling countryside that is South Hams, the venue is a superb place for a wedding. As the day proved, its an amazing venue even on wet days! The staff were so attentive and professional throughout. This allowed Amy and Lauren to have a magical day with their friends and families.
Being a Devon Wedding Photographer, it was so lovely to shoot a local wedding. Shilstone House is only about 35 minutes from our home in Kingskerswell. It’s always good to only have a short commute.
The ladies got ready in separate barns on the estate and were given away by their very proud fathers. Then the drinks reception was held in the main house.
Due to the unfortunate weather, I elected to photograph the family groups inside the main house. As the entrance and feature corridor are both stunning, it made for the perfect backdrop for the photos.
Shooting inside in variable weather can be tough. However, I have vast experience of coping with challenging conditions so it was fine with me. I also love shooting inside beautiful buildings. I always feel this adds something extra special to a couple’s wedding photographs.
The wedding breakfast was held in the purpose built marquee. Then as the weather eased, everyone was able to enjoy the grounds after dinner and well into the evening.
