John Swannell has always been a photographic hero of mine. I have bought a couple of his books which offer all sorts of outstanding portraits and imagery as well as reveal his amazing portfolio of a list clients ranging for the Royal Family down to top models, A list celebrities and legends of the entertainment world.

I have been a fan for about 20 years, even before i turned professional and his work always offers timeless stunning results. I met him briefly a few years back at the talk he gave to the London Portrait Group and found him to be an immensely modest man who could captivate an audience with the stories behind some of his world famous images. So when a friend of mine said he could arrange for me and a guest to attend the private viewing of John’s Royal Portrait Collection at Clarendon Fine Art in London I jumped at the opportunity.

The exhibition showcased many of the royal portraits that John had been asked to take as well as images from his fantastic portfolio. All were limited edition prints, available for sale, with the proceeds going to the National Autistic Society, a charity very close to John’s heart. In attendance were some distinguished VIPs including royalty and the the President of the charity, Jane Asher. My guest was a close friend of mine, Mark and we really enjoyed the evening and talking to a few of the other guests at this special event.

As i am testing my Fuji X-Pro1 in all sorts of situations to check out its performance as i integrate it into my everyday work, i, of course, had it with me….well in Mark’s coat pocket!

So i did the done thing and asked if John would mind being photographer with me and he was kind enough to agree.

Here are a couple of shots taken on the Fuji X-Pro1. The images inside the exhibition were taken at 1600iso on the 18mm lens and the one outside at f2 set to 400iso.
